Version 6 Amendments To The ADAC Schema Are Now Complete

July 01, 2025

Version 6 revisions to the ADAC Schema are now complete and are pending adoption by several existing Councils and Service Authorities within the ADAC Consortium.

Typically, we see a grace period of six (6) months from adoption where a Council or Authority will continue to accept their previous version data or the new version data, so we can expect a similar situation in this instance. Councils and Authorities in Queensland (QLD) and New South Wales (NSW) that are on a pathway to ADAC adoption and implementation will jump straight into utilising the ADAC v6 Schema.

CADASTRAL ASSETS: Allowable geometries for lots, easements, water courses, reserves and roads have been updated to incorporate curved boundaries. This has been triggered by the ongoing growth of ADAC adoption within NSW where property boundaries can be defined using curves and arcs.

COMMUNICATION ASSETS: Historically communication assets were captured within the Open Space asset class; now they have their own standalone asset class. This new asset class facilitates the capture of pits, conduits, cables, fittings, and monitoring stations.

ELECTRICAL ASSETS: Likewise, electrical assets have been removed from the Open Space asset class and is now its own asset class. There are common assets to Communication, however the Electrical asset class also includes switchboards, lights (standard and traffic signalling), poles, solar assets and EV charging stations.

OPEN SPACE ASSETS: Open Space asset types have been revised to include Fauna assets, Land Stabilisation and Prepared Surfaces. Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance is now added as a non-mandatory field within various asset types.

SEWERAGE ASSETS: Main adjustment to Sewerage is the inclusion of Maintenance Shaft as an asset type. This allows for the accurate capture of the following fields: Inspection Shaft, Inspection Tee, Maintenance Chamber, Maintenance Shaft, Rodding End, and Terminal Entry Point.

STORMWATER ASSETS: We see a rationalisation of attribution requirements for End Structures and Use values for grate lid types.

TRANSPORT ASSETS:  With the NSW theme continuing, the transport fields now include NSW pavement and parking types facilitating accurate asset capture within the State.

WATER SUPPLY ASSETS:  There are no structural changes to the asset class, however there are minor updates to various asset fields.

Remember that understanding, field capture, and processing and delivery of ADAC data will influence constructor and developer delivery timeframes. ADAC is built into the Operational Works, and Development Approval conditions for each Council or Authority. Review of ADAC capture guidelines for each Council or Authority area is critical to smooth project delivery.

Let's collaborate to unlock the full potential of your Civil, Spatial and Asset datasets.
